Deidre Baumann is running for Cook County Circuit Court Judge in filling Victoria A. Stewart vacancy in the Democratic Primary Election on March 20, 2012. Deidre Baumann (Punch #163) is opposed by five politically connected opponents, but Baumann is highly rated by the various bar associations because of her outstanding legal work as a lawyer.

With over 20 years of experience practicing law, Baumann has built a strong reputation as a highly skilled, informed, and gifted advocate not only for her clients but the greater good. She is best known for her tireless work as lead counsel on the Burr Oak Cemetery litigation, having filed the first class action lawsuit representing the hundreds of people with loved ones buried at Burr Oak Cemetery.

“I’m running for Judge because I believe I can bring fresh energy and an independent voice to the Cook County Courts,” said Baumann. “I have the perspective of a long-time Chicago resident and the knowledge of an active community member who has worked across a wide spectrum of urban issues.”

Deidre Baumann knows it is not easy running for Judge of the Cook County Circuit Court. It takes hard-work and tenacity and a strong empathy for people. That isn't always enough, but it is a great start for a candidate. She has been there before, running for judge in 2010. Baumann came in second to Judge William H. Hooks, a strong, party-endorsed candidate. Baumann earned much from that experience, and now feels strongly she can prevail in this race.

Deidre Baumann has racked up some important endorsements in her 2012 race for judge, filling the Victoria A. Stewart vacancy. Baumann has received the endorsement of the Chicago Teachers Union which represents over 32,000 Chicago Public Schools teachers dedicated to advancing quality public education for our children. She received the endorsement of the IVI-IPO, a trusted organization that is dedicated to "good government activism and an idealistic vision of open, honest government in Illinois through pragmatic means that confront cynicism and corruption with equal force."
