Congressman Danny K. Davis joined Governor Pat Quinn at a press conference yesterday to announce the extension of “Put Illinois to Work.”

Governor Pat Quinn today announced the extension of the Put Illinois to Work (PIW) program for up to two months to serve as a bridge until Congress votes on an extension of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Emergency Contingency Fund (TANF/ECF). The federal program, which supports Put Illinois to Work, is set to expire on Sept. 30 unless Congress acts to extend the effective job creation measure. More than 26,000 workers have been hired since Put Illinois to Work was launched last April.

Put Illinois to Work is a collaborative effort of IDHS and Heartland Human Care Services and over two dozen partner organizations across the state. Funding was provided through TANF/ECF, which was created by the U. S. Congress by passing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Something new and need!

Gluten is the elastic, rubbery protein present in wheat, rye, barley, and to a lesser degree, in oats. It binds the dough in foods such as bread and other baked goods. It contributes to the spongy consistency. Rice and maize do not contain gluten. (Most brown sauces like soy, hoisin, or oyster, contain wheat/gluten. Our fish sauce, which is used to make the house sauce is gluten-free.)Hawaiian Leaf Sausage - Bo La Lot

Team 4.5

Pictured is the stylish volunteer team of Papi Perez, field organizer. The team includes Eddie Meza, Viola Johnson with daughter Kira, LaToya Clayton, and Will Bristol. They are seen here wearing fedoras provided by Papi and the Goorin Bros. Spending so much time out in the sun warrants some shade, however, spending the day working hard is no excuse to forget about style. The team took the south side by storm canvasing in the Stoney area raising awareness for voting and lending a helping hand to those who were ignorant of the coming election.

Generating buzz about the November election, handing out critical information on the candidates, and raising awareness of the new absentee ballot laws were top priority this weekend for the crew. Seeing as it is a pivotal time for the democratic party to rally voters, they were happy to help in canvasing efforts.

Regards,
Will
